What We’re Gifting Our Kids for Christmas

Last week I shared The Homeschool Family Gift Guide and it is packed full of educational gifts. But if you need some more ideas I wanted to share some of the things we’re getting our kid’s for Christmas - some of it’s educational, some of it’s just needed, and other items are just for fun! Under each section I’ve also added a few other things our kids are currently loving or have loved as past gifts.

What We’re Giving Our 12 Year Old Twin Girls

  • Magic Puzzle: We have 5 of these already, but the girls wanted another one because they love them so much. The Gnomes Home was probably their favorite one. We’re going with Big Rock City for this year.

  • Highland Cow Crochet Kit: Last year we got the girls a Woobles crochet kit and it took them a minute to get into it, but once they did they loved it. They LOVE highland cows so I think this will be a big hit.

  • Harry Potter 3 & 4 Minalima Editions: We have my original Harry Potter set, but we’ve been collecting this edition and I figure when the girls are older one can take my set and the other can have this one.

  • Pleated Floral Dress: Aren’t these the cutest? They both need some new dresses so I think they’ll like the Apricot & Khaki Floral & the Green & Yellow Floral.

  • Muck Boots: The girls are all about everything gardening right now so going with these knock-off Hunter boots in beige & pine green.

  • Plant Stand with Grow Light: We haven’t decided on which plant stand/grow light set up we’re going to get yet, but we are getting something like this (probably smaller) or we may have to end up piecing something together. And, of course, I think I’ll get a new plant to go with it!

  • Egg Gathering Basket: If you followed us last summer you’ll know we did an egg incubator and hatched our own baby chicks. We’ve had hens for years now, but this really reignited the girl’s love for them so, believe it or not, I think they’ll be tickled to get their own egg basket!

  • Bread Maker: We haven’t pulled the plug on this yet, but we’re highly considering getting the girls a bread maker and I think this particular model is so cute for a tween. My girls love to bake sourdough bread so I think having something on hand that’s just a touch easier to make regular bread with would be really fun for them.

  • Cakes by Courtney Cake Camp or a local cake decorating classes. I heard her class has a supply list so if we go this route I’m probably going to wait to purchase any cake supplies.

Stockings

We usually do some basic things like socks, favorite candy, toothbrushes, ect and then I usually add a few extra fun items. This year we’re going with:

  • LOTR & Percy Jackson Necklace: These are both on their Christmas wish lists.

  • Hand Blown Glass Animals: Earlier this year I got the girls a hand blown glass snail & octopus and the girls loved them so much and asked for more for Christmas. They keep them on their bookshelves and they’re super cute.

  • Fairy Lights: The girls really want these for their room!

Other Recent Favs

If your girls sound like mine a few of the other things they really love right now are these watercoloring books + paints (I am grabbing them this jungle watercolor version for them) , overalls, anything and everything sourdough (we use For The Love of Sourdough for our tutorial and recipes) or baking, and they love all things plant or animal themed (legos, water bottles, pictures for their walls, clothes, this book (really, ANY books). They just finished reading The Hobbit & The Fellowship of the Ring (and watched the movies) so this is their current fav series right now.

As far as technology goes - last year for Christmas we gifted the girls iPads and these cases (double check sizes based on models) and it was definitely the right timing as we’ve needed them for multiple classes this year. We also have a Bambu Mini 3D Printer and so they’ve also enjoyed playing around in the TinkerCad app. There are a few certain friends they LOVE to do Stop Motion Studio with (also an app) and if you go this route I’d recommend these lights and backdrops to go with anything Stop Motion. We also gifted these to our kids last year and it was a huge hit! Finally, they also really enjoy the apps Procreate, Affinity Designer, and Canva. Some of these need subscriptions so I think those could count as great gifts!

What We’re Giving Our 8 (Almost 9) Year Old Boy

  • Percy Jackson Box Set: This is a book series my older girls read twice and we borrowed the copies both time so I decided it was just time to get our own set.

  • Architectural Engineering Kit: Originally I was going to go with the Cyborg Hand by this same brand, but decided to go with this kit instead. I think he’ll love it.

  • Athletic Compression Leggings: My son already has these in a smaller size so it’s just time to size up. He wears these under shorts all winter long and for sport games.

  • BYU Pendant Flag & BYU Sweatshirt: Turns out this kid is a huge BYU football fan so we’re going with a few fun themed gifts for him.

  • Glow in the Dark Football: We thought he’d get a kick out of this.

  • Nintendo 2 Games & Accessories: Earlier this year I told my kids not to expect a Nintendo Switch 2 for Christmas (because we already have a Switch 1) and my son came up with a plan to save up for the latest model. Over the last six months he has worked his tail off and just a few weeks ago was able to get the latest model. (His siblings ended up contributing to the pot too.) So, we’re going to help them out and get them a few new controllers, a carrying case, and a game for Christmas. You probably won’t be surprised when I say we’re getting him Madden NFL 26.

  • Legos: We always get a least one Lego kit for this lego loving boy!

Stocking

We usually do some basic things like socks, favorite candy, toothbrushes, ect and then I usually add a few extra fun items. This year we’re going with:

Other Recent Favs:

For back to homeschool l we got him this art sketch kit and he loves it so much! He also really enjoys Extreme Dot-to-Dot books and this Puzzle A Day and Super Slide Puzzle have been favorites. Last year in his stocking we put this 9 in 1 Multipurpose Pen and that was also perfect for him. His main gift last year was this Technic Audi RC Car and it definitely was a winner.

What We’re Giving Our 6 Year Old Boy

  • Echo Pop: He keeps stealing mine so that means it’s time for his own, ha!

  • Playmobil Fireboat: He loves Playmobil and really wanted the fire helicopter, but unfortunately it’s not available so if we can’t find it by Christmas we’ll go with the fireboat!

  • Glow in the Dark Star Stickers: We have these in my other kid’s rooms but my littlest doesn’t yet so I think he’ll be excited to have his own.

  • Piggy Bank: My little guy is always SO sure he has lots of money to buy things so I am getting him this piggy bank so he can see his money and keep track of it! I think he’ll love dropping the coins in.

  • Bedroom Furniture: The main thing he wants this year is a “new bedroom” and we haven’t figured out all the details yet, but we’ll likely be getting him a new twin bed frame and we’re leaning toward this desk from IKEA.

  • Legos: My 6 year old’s lego wish list is about a mile long, but we think we’ll like this scrapyard one and we’ll likely pick up one or two small ones.

Stocking

We usually do some basic things like socks, favorite candy, toothbrushes, ect and then I usually add a few extra fun items. This year we’re going with:

  • Magnetic Rocks: We have a magnet sensory bin that he LOVES. It’s full of little magnetic rocks and so we’re going to add in some big ones.

  • Toob: I am working on setting up some Continent Boxes for him (surprise) and so I am getting a few of these to go in those.

  • Ninjago Blind Bag: Blind bags are always a hit and Ninjago is his favorite show right now.

Other Recent Favs

Last year we got him this little stunt car racer and he loves anything RC Cars. His favorite is a Jeep from the RC Superstore. If you have a child who loves RC cars this is a fun place because you can also add upgrades to it. He also loves to play with anything Magnatiles, Keva Blocks, & his farm! We love the Schleich animals to go with it.

Happy holidays & happy shopping!
