Ever since we decided to homeschool, I have struggled a bit on how to handle nostalgic events. Do we get go back to school shopping? What about school plays? Are my kids missing out on the fun holiday class parties? And, one of the bigger ones, what about the first and last days of school?

Each year, I interview my children before I map out our curriculum plan for the approaching school year. I mostly set aside this time as an “interview” because I want to have a written record.

Our family economy has changed many times over the years and this is very normal. It will always be evolving and we adapt as needed. Here are a few ideas to inspire something similar in your homes.
