The Homeschool Family Gift Guide 2025

This year I’ve rounded up 16 gift categories for the homeschool family. You can shop each category at length in my Amazon Storefront. And, I thought it’d be fun to highlight a few favorite items from each category!

For the Active Child

  1. This summer we bought our first Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course. We took it on a family camping trip and it was a huge hit!

  2. When all my kids were younger the Little Tikes Bounce House was their absolute favorite. For a while, we were able to keep it inside because we had an unfinished basement. Once it was finished though we would take it out in our backyard. Sometimes we’d even spray it with water and they’d have a blast jumping and sliding in the water.

  3. If you have toddlers and haven’t already definitely start them on Strider bikes. We started all our kids on these between 2.5-3 years old and it laid such a great foundation for riding bikes. None of our kids ever used training wheels and we owe it to these bikes!

For the Sensory Seeker

  1. Sensory bins have always been a favorite around here. My kids still love playing with this pre-made space sensory bin and Instasnow is always a big hit anytime of the year.

  2. For our traditional back to homeschool breakfast this year we gave my boys these magnetic fidget spinners and they’re a lot of fun. They connect together so it’s fun when your get one for each of your kids. These would make a great stocking stuffer.

  3. I don’t really get it, but the Nee-Doh ice cubes are always a favorite around here too.

For The Historian

  1. Have you seen the Magic Puzzles? This Awakened Artifacts puzzle is one of my girl’s favorites. It’s unique because you finish the puzzle and then get to open a mystery envelop with even more puzzle pieces that you get to add to the puzzle (without having a picture to see.) It’s really fun!

  2. Three years ago we did this Pyramid Dig Kit while we were studying Ancient Egypt and my kids still talk about it! It’s messy, but so much fun!

For the Scientist

  1. My kids love our rock tumbler. Admittedly, I don’t love that I have to buy the grit for it (and it’s pretty loud so we have to keep it in our garage), but it is definitely something they’ve all enjoyed. And, yes, the rocks come out super shiny which is fun!

For the Book Lover

  1. This year for Christmas I’m getting my book loving tween girls their own gift cards to both Audible and Barnes & Noble.

  2. We’ve had Yotos for years now, but I’d still absolutely recommend them if you’re looking for a child friendly audio book resource! I have a full review post on our mini’s here: One Year Review of the Yoto Mini Player.

  3. Also if you don’t have a personalized book stamp yet, we love ours!

For the Nature Lover

  1. Last year for Christmas we got our girls this bird feeder with the camera. It has been so fun watching different birds up close!

  2. If you haven’t ever done a ladybug or butterfly grow kit, they are so fun!

  3. Also, you can’t ever go wrong with nature backpacks.

For the Engineer

  1. If you know us, you’ll know we are big on the engineering toys! My son (8) could build with legos all day long. Other similar things he likes are: Snap circuits, Keva blocks, Craft stick creations, and we just started playing with this Simple Machines kit which has been a big hit. I am also getting him this Cyborg Hand for Christmas.

For the Pretender

  1. When the kids were little we had the cutest teepee and it’s something I always recommend because there are so many hours of play with these.

  2. We also love anything Schleich and my youngest son (6) still loves Playmobil a lot! When my girls were younger they loved anything and everything Calico Critters.

For the Math Magician

  1. Cover Your Assets, Sleeping Queens (both 1 & 2), and Clumsy Thief are all games we’re still enjoying. Some math games I can’t play (so boring), but these are all ones I really like too.

  2. We’ve been using this Multiplication Board Game to help my 8 year old son work on his facts and my 6 year old is at the perfect age for Tenzi!

For the Crafter

  1. Last year I gifted my 11 year olds two Woobles kits and it took them a minute to get into them, but once they did they turned out do cute. I like this kit because it comes with a video so I didn’t have to teach it because I don’t know how to crochet!

  2. I’m a huge fan of keeping fuse/perler beads, clay beads, and lots of craft supplies on hand. We use these things a lot in the afternoons or evenings when we have down time and they’re great for creativity, but also for developing fine motor skills.

For the Artist

  1. I got my budding artist this art supplies kit at back to school time and he was just absolutely giddy about it. We have so many art supplies around the house, but having his very own organized set was a big deal for him.

  2. Did you know Art Kids Hub has published art tutorial books? These are great especially if you’d like to keep your kids off screens. We also love everything Deep Space Sparkle: Draw, Paint, Sparkle.

  3. We have loads of favorite art supplies so if you need some more art supply ideas, I’d recommend checking out my full Arts, Crafts, & Sensory Supply list.

Stocking Stuffers

  1. I am not a huge fan of junky Christmas stocking stuffers. My go-to’s are always art supplies, Plus Plus, small lego kits (or Toobs) or card games.

For Mrs. Mom

  1. For me, I always give my husband a long list of books I’d like for Christmas and then he surprises me with a few! If you haven’t read The Call of the Wild + Free, that is one of my favorites to recommend to homeschool moms.

  2. I’m also super happy with a Barnes & Noble (or Amazon) gift card.

In the School Room

  1. If you’re working to set up a homeschool space or just looking for some favorites to add to your home, I’d recommend a good globe, Classic Fairytales, and some fun wooden boards.

Game Schooling Favorites

  1. Again, Sleeping Queens probably takes the crown here. And, I’d also recommend Zingo for early elementary kiddos! Kanoodle is a fun independent favorite.

Read Aloud Books & Activities

  1. Are you guys tired of me talking about these alcohol based markers & bold & easy coloring books yet? I think I talk about them so much because they’re MY favorite to do while listening to a good audio book. My kids love them too though.

  2. This is another time we like to work on Magic Puzzles: The Gnomes Homes is another favorite of ours.

  3. Have you read Sweep yet? That is one of our most recent favorite read-alouds. We’re also reading the Ickabog right now and I’m loving it!

  4. Last year during December and January the kids also built the cutest air dry snowmen during our read alouds. I saved all the supplies and bought some white air dry clay so we can do it again this year.

That’s a wrap! Happy holidays, friends!
